HOW WE WRITE
Editorial policy
Our guides and tool pages aim to be accurate, clear and honest about what they are: general information to help you plan.
Sources
Facts come from official sources: governments, regulators, recognised professional bodies or the maker's published sheet. Each page lists its sources with the date we last checked them.
Rules of thumb are only used where they are labelled as rules of thumb. We do not copy text from other websites.
No expert review
There is no expert review of this site. We never write "reviewed by", and we never invent people, titles or credentials.
Every result carries a short note to check the official sources and speak to a qualified professional before you act.
How a guide is checked
- It starts with the answer, then covers what people ask in a few short sections.
- Every number in a worked example is re-checked with the planner it links to.
- Facts are checked against the sources listed, with the date they were checked.
- A guide is published only once its planner is live.
Corrections
If you spot a mistake or an out of date source, please email [email protected]. We check it against the official source, correct the page and update its checked date.
This page describes the site as it works today. It changes when the site does.
